Next a work protocol is described that is applicable to all the treatments described in this manual.

PHASE 1:

Phase 1 is based on the preparation of the skin for the treatment. Therefore, consists of the cleaning and exfoliation of the skin. THE SAFETY HANDLE

The high quality of the appliances of AUTOMATIC VITALTERM guarantees a preferential treatment to the safety of the client and, therefore, to the safety of the therapist. For this reason, the appliance incorporates an innovative safety system that allows the operator to give a part of the control of the machine to the client.

This granting of authority is unlimited, since the client only has capacity of acting in front of the fact of sending the signal of functioning or of stoppage, but it is useful in any case since the client receives a feedback from the machine that responds to their sensory needs.
The appliance has been equipped with a dispositive that obeys a safety control. This control allows the client to make the current pass during the session without any type of danger or detaining the appliance immediately in the moment in which the client feels an uncomfortable or unknown sensation.

When the client presses the safety handle, the current is put into movement and penetrates in the circuit between the active and passive plates. This is visualized on the machine through the illumination of the green pilot at the front of the appliance. When the client releases the safety handle, the current is stopped and the treatment is stopped instantly. It is important that the therapist always gives the safety control to the client at all times when you connect the plates. What sensations can the client experience when she receives the therapy?

1. As a general rule, pleasant sensation of deep heat (not comparable to other external systems of thermoheating like an electric blanket, a sauna or a hot bath). The treatment is not better for maintaining high thresholds of thermal perception, for which it must always be kept in the threshold of perceivable and pleasant sensation.

2. Sometimes, if the plates press more over some points of the skin than others on the skin, the client can feel an intense thermal sensation in those points. This incorrect application of the plates must be corrected applying a more homogenous pressure across the elastic straps, or substituting the regular covers for the covers of thermal gels.

3. It is also possible for the client to feel a sparkling sensation. That is produced with the round plate for the effect of antenna that the hairs exert over the current. This is solved applying more contact gel that improves the conductability of the skin with respect to the hair. With the active plate, on the other hand, this sensation of little electrical pinches can be produced when the contact product between the skin and the cover of the plate (normally, gel or cream) is badly distributed over the surface of the applier. 4. The client can feel more thermal sensation in the passive plate than in the active. This fact has no aesthetic transcendence, for which you must only regulate the power so that the tissues situated immediately below the active plate keep irrigating each time more blood and this sensation is eventually presented. It can be produced especially in the first minutes of treatment using the gel covers.

5. There is the possibility that the client feels absolutely no sensation during the whole treatment. This is normally produced when it is worked at low powers and when the aim of the treatment is not directly linked to the cutaneous circulatory trophic effect.

The fact of not feeling thermal sensation implies under no concept that the physiological effects that generate the current of Capacative Diathermia in the tissues are not being affected. The absence of heat shows that not enough internal resistance is produced by the different types of tissues that it crosses as to ascend the surface as vasodilatation and activate the system of cooling by blood.

Precautions

• The therapist must first remove all metallic pieces, jewellery, watches or similar things to perform the treatment and must have the correct footwear.
• The client must pay attention to not touch or rub metal while the treatment is developing.
• The treatment that demands a placing of the plates in parallel mode (plates in different planes) it must not cross tissues with presence of metals and implants that can lead to a variation in their temperature.
• The therapist must make sure that the client doesn’t present any type of infection in the tissues where the treatment is performed, as well as open injury or any other injury that must be consulted previously with a doctor.
• In the tissues where there is no cutaneous sensitivity of this is reduced, the therapy must not be performed.
• The therapist must maintain her total interest and attention in the development of the treatment during all its extension. Also the steps of therapy must be developped as this manual presents or as taught in the specialized training course. The application of the therapy must be performed with safety and with precaution. It is advisable to question the client about the sensations that she experiences throughout the treatment.

Contraindications of use

The application of the AUTOMATIC VITALTERM as a treatment technique enjoys a series of advantages with respect to other known techniques. It is an innocuous technique that doesn’t generate secondary effects because of an excessive application, on the contrary to what happens with other techniques. The active plates have some plastic covers of blue colour that adjust perfectly to the size and surface of the plates. This evaporation, although it brings a lesser loss than that which is produced with sweating, it can also be important.

This is due to the fact that the skin contains some particles called keratinocites, that are kept together by means of a type of “cement “ –composed mainly of proteins and lipids disposed in the form of sheets--, through which it is opened passage the water. The type of antiageing treatment can be a preventative treatment or a paliative treatment. This fragmentation gives rise to apopoptic bodies (membranous vesicles that contain cellular fragments) that are phagocytosed the neighbouring cells or macrophages, without producing any inflammatory reaction.
The necrosis (or pathological cellular death) cannot be included within the denominated programmed cellular death, although it is admitted that both the physiological death by apoptosis and death linked to a complete differentiation (formation of desquaming corneocites), require in an adequate programming.

The process of ageing also has a bearing on the dermoepidermic union. This union doesn’t apparently suffer changes in its histological structure, but with age it tends to level out. The cohesion between the epidermis and the dermis is deficient, in a way that the skin makes us more vulnerable to the traumas, as well as developing a greater ease to the formation of phials. In the fibres, ageing is manifested in disorganisation of the bundles of collagen. These bundles are slimmed, fragmented, disorientated and with a frayed appearance. The degeneration and reduction of the elastic fibres is produced. In the papilary dermis the fibres are less numerous and lose their verticality. In the mid dermis they tend to enlarge, and in the deep dermis an elastosis is produced with increase of the density of the elastic network. The combination of these alterations of the fibres causes a loss of the turgidity and elasticity of the dermis. An amorphous material at the level of the papilary dermis is originated, also denominated elastosic material, that keeps increasing with the passage of age, eventually occupying the whole reticular dermis.

The alterations in the fundamental substance are the reduction of the fundamental substance in proportion to the fibrous tissue, with alteration of their structural glucoproteins and of their proteoglycan constituents. It is less rich in hialuronic acid and it becomes less permeable, less hydrated and less fluid. The nutritive exchanges reduce, since the fundamental substance loses in great part its capacity to attract and conserve the circulating liquids, with which a deep dehydration is produced. The AUTOMATIC VITALTERM increases the intercellular drainage, for which the circulating liquids are seen newly attracted towards it, intensifying the processes of cellular respiration.

The vascular and lymphatic modifications are manifested in the reduction of the vascularisation by rarificacion of the terminal capillaries, with reduction of the blood flow. The vascular modifications are the cause of hypothermia characteristic of the senile age, as well as the appearance of senile purple (for rupture of the capillaries). Of the way of living, some exogenous causes are derived, that give rise to some external factors that influence in ageing.
