Anticellulitic treatment of reduction in the culotte
de cheval (saddle bags)
The treatment of the adiposities is one of the most usual requests in
any beauty centre. If you want to give it a solution, you must first
identify the nature of adipose tissue. If it corresponds to an excess
of generalized fat, we will probably find ourselves in front of
a case of obesity that will have to be corrected through a hypocalorific
diet. If it corresponds to an excess of localized fat, we will probably
find ourselves in front of a lipodistrophia (cellulitis) that will
have to be treated through a more complex treatment based on the
application of electrotherapy and lipolitic substances. For this
reason you must differentiate cellulitis from obesity: While in
obese people the greases are mobilized with relative ease through
a hypocalorific diet, in the lipodistrophy the mobilization is very
difficult. This indicates to us that in cellulitis overweight doesn’t
necessarily exist.
In order to treat cellulitis with the maximum guarantees of success,
we must have a series of information that allow us to appoach the
problem correctly. These indications are extendable for all the
parts of the body where the lipodistrophy is located (saddle bags,
abdomen, waist, buttocks, arms, etc), for which it is sent throughout
those treatments to read all the information brought up in this
section. Therefore, it is necessary to undertstand its nature before
undertaking its treatment independently of the area where it is
manifested.
The cellulitis is an alteration of the conjunctive tissue where
two fundamental phenomena concur: hiperviscosity of the fundamental
substance and hypertrophy of the adipose cells, for a sclerosis
to finally be produced.
These phenomena lead to an accumulation of water and toxins in
the subcutaneous tissue caused by a slowing down of the circulation,
alteration of the cellular exchanges, as well as degeneration of
fibres. The aesthetic treatments of cellulitis will be directed
to improve the blood and lymphatic circulation, as well as the mobilization
of adipose accumulations.
The cellulitis has a multifactorial origin. It can be considered
a reactional state of the conjunctive and adipose tissues with various
interrelated factors: endocrines, neurovegetatives, genetic, toxical-infectious,
psychological, mechanical, etc. It is, therefore, an alteration
that needs medical treatment, even orthopoedical, for which the
first step will be to send to medical consultation.
Cellulitis is not always associated to excess of weight, for which
restrictive diets will not improve it if it is not combined with
other treatments. The more instaured is the cellulitis the more
difficult it will be the aesthetic treatment. The extreme treatment
to apply in case of not obtaining result with electroaesthetic techniqes
will be medical-surgical.
The phases of development of the cellulitis happen in a progressive
form until establishing itself as a very marked pathology. In the
cellulitis phenomena of hyperviscosity of the fundamental substance
are produced of the fundamental substance by hyperpolymerization
of the mucopolysaccharides, at the same time as hypertrophy of the
adipocites are produced. A reduction of the metallic exchanges that
leads to a fibrinoid transformation of the fibres (are hardened),
a slowing down of the circulation, (stasis and frequently edema),
and overcharge of adipocites.
All these processes are usually given in stages, in a way that
we can say that cellulitis develops in four stages: In stage 1,
there are few clinical signs, but an increase of the consistency
of the skin and greater congestion of the zone (circulatory, veinous
and lymphatic stasis). In stage 2, the skin is more hardened, more
rigid, with greater pastosity due to the edema in the adipose tissue,
which is seen by means of the sign of “the skin in orange
peel”. In the stage 3, micronodules are produced (the fibres
are dissociated and forming swollen bundles by degeneration of the
collagen), due to the process of fibrosis (process of formation
of fibrous connective tissue. It can also begin to hurt the cellulitic
zone. In the stage 4, large nodules (macronodules) of hard and rigid
consistency. In this phase there is permanent pain (even without
touching the skin), since the fibrosis compresses vessels and nerves.
In order to optimize the treatment with AUTOMATIC VITALTERM, the
beauty professional must identify what phase of development the
client is in.
The types of cellulitis are also an interesting option of diagnostic
and preparation of the treatment to perform. There are different
forms of cellulitis, in such a way that it can be classified by
its localization, whether generalized or localized, or for its consistency:
According to the localization, the cellulitis can be generalized
or localized. Generalized cellulitis appears almost exclusively
in obese people and from puberty. In young people, the skin doesn’t
present padded appearance any longer, although it lacks elasticity
and is less irrigated. In these cases, the treatments can be more
effective if they are also accompanied by a good hygiene of life.
The localized cellulitis, on the other hand, is the best known form
of cellulitis and it is that which is localized in the lower limbs:
thighs, hips and buttock region. This type of cellulitis is that
which has given rise to the denomination “pantalón
de montar” and even knee and ankles. It is usually accompanied
by hyperlordosis. It can also be localized in cervicals (due to
a postural problem), arms, abdomen or lumbosacral region.
According to its consistency, the cellulitis can be hard, soft
or edematose. The hard cellulitis affects young women that do frequent
physical exercise or people of normal or inferior weight, that have
the localized process. The skin is compact, difficult to pinch,
with pain on pressing, with waves that don’t change with corporal
movement. The local temperature is usually colder than the rest.
In the soft cellulitis, on the other hand, the skin is easy to pinch,
soft and of spongy touch. It is common in obese people or those
with sedentary lives, or in peolple that have lost weight rapidly.
The edematose cellulitis, is found in people of young ages and is
characterized by the important edema that is produced in the cellulitic
zone, especially when it affects the lower limbs (“very fat
legs”). This type is frequently associated to circulatory
problems.
The cutaneous needs to perform an appropriate treatment of cellulitis
are to correct the etiological (medical) factors, through exercise,
orthopoedic correction, diet etc. And favour the blood and lymphatic
circulation. Also the proteoglicanos must be depolymerized and the
fibrosis reduce, as well as degrading the adipocitary triglycerides.
The signs associated to the cellulitis are, the telangiectasias
at the level of the plates of cellulitis. The client will also indicate
to us that she observes sensation of heaviness with or without edema,
stiffness of the lower limbs, cramps, often cold feet, etc.
The causes of cellulitis are various. Nowadays, it is still assimilable
to a clear ethiology, without rather a state related to the conjunctive
and adipose tissue, as well as to different interrelated factors.
These factors are endocrine, neurovegative, genetic, toxic-infectious,
psychological, mechanical, etc.
Endocrine factors are those derived from different hormones over
the fundamental substance. It is known as some favour the polymerization
such as ACTH and the glucosorticoides, while others are depolymerizing
as the somatotropine and progesterone. The hipofisary and ovarian
disfunctions, the hipotirodism and the hyperfolliculism are probable
factors. The alterations of the oestrogen-progesterone equilibrium
favour the polymerization of the fundamental substance and retention
of water. These disorders are frequent in puberty, menopause, pregnancy
and during ingestion of oral contraceptives. Although in the origin
of many cellulitis, endocrine causes are found, it has not been
demonstrated clearly and constantly of the hormonal secretions in
women predisposed to obesity and to obesity and cellulitis.
Neurovegetative disorders are disorders of a nervous type, emotive
or anxious type that could predispose to cellulitis through a neurovegetative
distonia, given the influence of the catecoleminas in the lipid
metabolism and in the regulation of the capillaries.
Genetic factors would be those that would reveal a genetic predisposition
to obesity and cellulitis. However, it is complex and difficult
to establish.
Metabolic factors can give rise to lymphatic alterations and to
circulatory problems that influence in the unchaining of cellulitis.
This is the case of diabetes, obesity, hepatic disorders, etc.
Eating factors can also influence in the appearance of the lipodistrophy.
An excessive consumption of calories causes an excessive accumulation
of fat in the adiposites that makes difficult the lymphatic drainage
and collaborates in the formation of cellulitis. An excess of carbohydrates,
badly spread out in the day, also favours the synthesis of fats.
Toxic factors, amongst them the exogenous and endogenous intoxications,
can intervene favouring the accumulation of wastes with a perturbation
of the return circulation. In this way we have the hyperuricemias,
hypercolesterolemias, hyperglucemias, abuse of alcohol, coffee,
tobacco, the tendancy to constipation, bad hygiene of life and of
food.
Social factors and those of quality of life are essential to understand
the formation of cellulitis. A sedentary life, lack of exercise,
the use of very tight clothes and posture problems make return circulation
difficult and favour cellulitis.
Medical factors also have an influence. Some medicines favour the
polymerization of the fundamental substance, like sleeping pills,
tranqulilizers, antiinflamatories and anovulanys.
Psychological factors also have an influence. Cellulitis affects
more those people with anxieties, depressives or unstable people.
In these cases, it is necessary the recommendation of attention
to a specialized consultation.
Mechanical and vascular factors like pregnancy, the tiring positions
(prolonged seated position, for example), repeated microtraumatisms,
the vascular hypotonia or the veinous insufficiencies are factors
that can predispose or that aggravate the cellulitis.
The treatment of cellulitis is performed according to the type
that is presented to us and the stage of its development. The treatment
is directed to activate the systems of degradation of lipids. For
this reason, lipolitic substances will be used penetrated locally
through the AUTOMATIC VITALTERM and that can be combined additionally
with techniques like the ultrasounds that increases the circulatory
drainage and possesses fibrinolitic action. The penetrated active
substances will be the L-carnitina, caffeine, lipolitic enzymes,
iodine derivates, manuronic acid, extracts of fucus, etc, and the
cosmetic forms can be concentrated solutions (ampoules), gel or
creams.
The time of application of the AUTOMATIC VITALTERM in this first
phase of the treatment is of approximately 10 minutes in each treated
zone. Then the active plate will be applied in treatment zone tied
with some supporting straps for 10 more minutes. The total treatment
time for each treated surface is of approximately 20 minutes, being
able to widen in chronic cases. Next, AUTOMATIC VITALTERM will be
used in its format of active plates in the treatment of lymphatic
drainage (see lymphatic drainage treatment), in order to mobilize
and eliminate the metabolic residues resulting from the process
of lipolisis.
If the cellulitis is edematose, it will be tried to improve the
microcirculation, for which venotonic cosmetics and antiedematoses
(rusks, horse chestnut, equiseto, arnica, guarana) and draining
techniques. Finally it is necessary to reconstruct the altered tissue,
for which the restructuring cosmetics are indicated, based on chamomile,
altea, quiseto, organic silicon, asian centella, etc. are indicated.
Due to the complexity of the treatment of reduction of localized
adiposity, next are described different techniques that can be used
as complement to the application of the AUTOMATIC VITALTERM. These
techniques can be used before or after the application of the capacitive
current. The valoration of the order of the application of the different
techniques depends on the criterion of the professional and of its
knowledge of the acting of the currents of the appliances. You must
take into account that the AUTOMATIC VITALTERM is characterized
by the important vasodilation that it generates in the tissues and
for the great improvement of the physiological effects of the currents
applied later.
Amongst the available techniques, ionization is found (galvanic
current), which improves the penetration of cosmetics or the galvanization
that collaborates in the improvement of the metabolic exchanges,
since it facilitates the mobilization of the ions in a way that
improves the general state (elimination of exceeding liquids and
waste products, circulatory improvement, etc. ). This technique
is improved to the maximum when it is performed together with the
currents of electrostimulation. The sum of a continuous and alternate
current favour the trophic and muscular effect simultaneously, for
which the results are double (IMPGA 3000). Another excitomotor current
very indicated in this type of pathologies is the isometric current.
This current, besides improving the muscle tone and the liquid exchanges,
favours the metabolization of the lipids (IMPSEC 3000).
The appliances of bands of thermolysis (infrared of 2.000 nm wavelength,
with greater capacity of penetration) for their lipolitic action
(BIOBAND 3000) are also indicated. The ultrasounds are especially
indicated in hard and nodulous cellulitis due to their fibrinolitic
action to help to mobilize the established fibrosis. They also allow
you to modify the coloidal structures that have been formed: it
favours the passage of gel to solid that has been inverted in the
cellulitis (it solubilizes the intercellular substance). It also
favours the metabolic reactions of the tissue and improves the blood
and lymphatic circulation.
The hidrothermals exercise a toning effect, of superficial massage
and improvement of the general state. Bubble baths and hydromassage
will be indicated (that improve the microcirculation), pressure
showers (for their massage effect), sauna (sudorific and disintoxicating
effect), Hot and cold straps (reducers), mud therapy and the thermoactive
cosmetics. The muds and algae will be able to be applied in the
form of cataplasm, combined technical oclusives or infrared radiations,
in order to favour the penetration of active substances. The muds
or algae possess vasotonic and regenerating action.
So that the anticellulitic treatment with AUTOMATIC VITALTERM is
as effective as possible, it is convenient to previously perform
to the application of any appliance a corporal peeling, that allows
you to eliminate the corneal layer and improve the electrical conductability
and next, a relaxing massage with which the active lipolitic principles
will be penetrated internally afterwards by the AUTOMATIC VITALTERM.
The massage will have to be performed with gentle movements like
strokes, slidings, pressures or vibrations. All these movements
stimulate the blood and lymphatic circulation.
Lymphatic drainage constitutes one of the better anticellulitic
techniques, since it helps to eliminate waste substances and exceding
liquids, improves flexibility and circulation especially in zones
affected by edemas. You can perform draining massages with essential
oils: ivy, equiseto, wrack, ulmaria, salvia, rhosemary, cypress,
juniper, etc. These oils can also be penetrated during their application
of the treatment of Lymphatic drainage by means of AUTOMATIC VITALTERM
applying them under the active plate (blue) situated in the sole
of the feet. The deep massage is contraindicated, since the cellulitis
is usually painful. For this reason, it is better to substitute
it for a lymphatic drainage.
To combine the AUTOMATIC VITALTERM with the techniques of electrotherapy
is simple. It must be taken into account that any treatment performed
after the application of the AUTOMATIC VITALTERM is improved enormously
due to the powerful vasodilator effect. For this reason, the application
of currents is advised to later perform the application of the AUTOMATIC
VITALTERM. If more than one technique is used, we will dedicate
15 or 20 minutes to each one. For example, excitomotor currents
20 minutes, presotherapy 15 minutes, massage 20-30 minutes.
The incorporation of the patches of sustained liberation to the
cosmetic supposes a new advance in the treatment together with the
AUTOMATIC VITALTERM. These patches have been developped reducing
and anticellulitic action, that can even be applied in the form
of spray. On applying it, the solution is solidified until forming
a fine film, in a way that it acts as a patch slowly liberating
the active substances (extracts of tea, ivy, chamomile, etc.). If
you want the better metabolization of the active substances that
contain these patches, it is recommendable to previously apply the
AUTOMATIC VITALTERM.
ANTICELLULITIC Treatment
 |
The anticellulitic treatment is produced
through a massage. |
 |
Manipulations of digitopuncture that contribute
to the drainage and dissolving of fats. |
 |
Conducting gel is applied with the help of a tweezer.

 |
The fixing straps are put on the contour of the
leg |
 |
|
 |
The professional must make sure that the contact
between the plate and the skin is total. The straps must hold
correctly and uniformly, but without altering the circulation
at any time. |
 |
While the treatment with active plate is developped
in the right leg, the process is begun in the left leg. The
client is begged to turn to the other side and is proceded
to the penetration of the lipolitic product in the culotte
de cheval of the right leg. |
 |
Conducting gel is applied and the treatment with
