Orbicular treatment

The little wrinkles known as “crows feet ” are those that are produced in the contour of the eyes. They are characterized by being fine and deep, since the orbicular tisssue is extremely sensitive. The ocular zone is the most fragile and sensitive of the face, since its skin is weak and fine (between 0.33 and 0.36 mm, or rather, four times less than that of the chin), and its scarce natural protection means that it is dehydrated more than the rest of the face. Its circulatory and lymphatic network possesses different characteristics: approximately a third of the blood vessels remain inactive, for which the supply of oxygen is less than in other body zones, and the metabolic exchanges are performed more slowly. The slowness of the lymphatic circulation explains in part the appearance of bags by accumulation of liquids, edema etc. The elastic fibres and collagen of the dermis are less dense and are relaxed more quickly. In definitive, it can be affirmed that the orbicular tissues are especially exposed to ageing.

The 22 small muscles of the ocular region facilitate the almost constant blinking, but don’t act as support to the skin, for which the risk of appearance of wrinkles increases. The sebaceous and sweat glands, which brings with it a skin that wrinkles and folds easily. All these characteristics make the contour of eyes a zone especially needing of cares. From the age of 25, it is necessary to hydrate and protect this zone every day to delay the appearance of wrinkles. Then cosmetics for the ocular zone must join a series of characteristics: the active principles must not go in high concentrations (the skin is very fine, for which penetration is not difficult) and possess neutral pH, similar to the internal medium.

In summary, the beauty professional must pay special attention to the skin that surrounds the eyes, since it ages very quickly due to its extreme fragility to external aggressions and to the intense mobility of the muscles. In spite of the fact that the main treatment is preventative, the state and depth of the crow’s feet can be improved in those people that already manifest the problem. For this, it is advisable to begin this treatment around the age of 25, since the symptoms are initiated at this age and are accentuated with the passage of time.
